What you get

An honest baseline, not a sales pitch.

The same questions we ask at the start of every AI readiness engagement, written in plain English so a service owner can answer them in one sitting. Your report is ready the moment you finish.

01

Your overall level

From Aware to Embedded, with a plain description of what that level looks like in practice.

02

A score for each area

Six areas scored out of four, with the weakest one marked as the place to start.

03

Your biggest gaps

The three answers holding you back most, each shown against what good looks like, plus a suggested first step.

Six areas

Mapped to the government AI Playbook.

Each area links to the ten principles in the AI Playbook for the UK Government, so your results stand up in front of a board, a digital assurance panel or a spending review.

1Principle 10

Strategy and leadership

Is there a mandate, an owner and money for AI?

2Principles 1, 6

User need and use cases

Is AI aimed at real problems your users and staff have? The area most readiness tools leave out.

3Principles 5, 6

Data foundations

Do you know where your data lives, who owns it, and whether it's fit to use?

4Principles 2, 4, 10

Governance, ethics and legal

DPIAs, human oversight, transparency records and checks for bias and harm.

5Principles 1, 9

Skills and culture

Training, guidance on public AI tools, and how staff really feel about AI.

6Principles 3, 7, 8

Technology, security and buying

Procurement, security approval, platforms, and the AI already inside your software.

How it works

Fifteen minutes, start to finish.

Answer for your organisation as it is today, not as it's planned. If you're answering for one service, you won't know everything about corporate policy or IT, and that's fine.

01

Tell us your context

Organisation type, your role, and whether you're answering for the whole organisation or one service.

02

Answer 30 questions

Pick the description that best matches today. Each answer scores 0 to 4.

03

Say "Don't know" freely

It isn't scored against you. Gaps in what you know become part of the finding.

04

Instantly, on screen. Email it to yourself or share it with colleagues if you want to.

Level 5EmbeddedAI is part of how services are run and improved.
After the assessment

From assessment to change.

Your report suggests where to start. When you're ready to go further, each step builds on the last, and each is fixed scope and fixed price.

Questions

Good to know.

Is it really free?

Yes. There's no charge and no sign-up. If you want help acting on your results, the workshop, Discovery and pilot support are paid services, but there's no obligation.

Who should fill it in?

Anyone who knows how a service runs day to day: a service owner, head of service, digital or transformation lead, or a director. You can answer for your whole organisation or just your service.

What if I can't answer some questions?

Choose "Don't know". It isn't scored against you. If an area has three or more, the report says there isn't enough information rather than giving a misleading score.

Can my whole team take it?

Yes. Each person can take the assessment on their own. For a combined picture, our workshop with a staff survey runs the assessment with 5 to 25 people and shows where leaders and frontline staff see readiness differently.

What happens to my data?

Your answers stay in your browser. If you ask us to email your report, we use your details to send it and keep a copy for up to 12 months. We only contact you about your results if you tick the box to say we can.
